Ambassador Club’s Night Out with Matt

Special occasions always call for a special dining location. To celebrate, nope, not anniversaries or birthdays but a year of great effort put together by a wonderful team in Steelcase GSSKL. Ambassador Club in Steelcase functions to bring together employees through team building activities, to enhance communications and build positive relationships among co-workers. Being part of the club has been a great learning experience for me and I enjoyed every bit of it!

Matt (our Managing Director) generously invited us for dinner at Ole-Ole Bali, Solaris Mont Kiara and over to his house later on for desserts and tea. Ole-Ole Bali offers a vast selection of Balinese cuisine with its distinctive flavours and use of fragrant spices. Perfect place to hang out with friends (large portion of food!) or have a romantic dinner against the lightly dimmed ambience.

Feast time! We ordred plenty, too much in fact so here are the highlights…

Cucumber Cooler (RM18) – very refreshing drink especially on a hot & humid day (like any other days in Malaysia anyway). Mylone seems to enjoy this very much and note the red-hot chilli! Such contrasting flavours! Don’t think he ate the chilli though…

My all time favourite – Avocado Yoghurt Shake (RM18). Thick yoghurt blended with avocado and drizzled with chocolate sauce! Sooo creamy and yummy! Feels like heaven with each sip!

For starters, we had the Chicken and Prawns Platter (RM38) – a must-order! The prawns are grilled to perfection, infused with such fragrant spices and most importantly, still have its freshness sealed. Juicy!

Squid Salad (RM28) – so-so only, a few burnt squids here and there.

and finally, the Ole-Ole Trio (RM42) – the “perfect” starter to try out Ole-Ole’s signature dishes. This trio platter is a combination of Ole-Ole Chicken Wings, Cumi-Cumi Goreng (fried calamari) and Sate Lilit (barbecued seafood paste wrapped around lemongrass stalk, somewhat similar to otak-otak), served with 3 different types of sauce – sambal matah, sambal terasi and the common tartar sauce. Nothing to shout about though. I would say Sate Lilit is the star in this platter.

For main course, most of us ordered the Nasi Campur Ole-Ole (RM33). The dish comes with grilled prawns, squids, pan fried fish, sauteed kangkung, sate lilit, anchovies crackers and either a selection of chicken or beef rendang served with rice. The portion is definitely for sharing unless you’re really really hungry The grilled prawns that come with the nasi campur is slightly dry compared to the ones we had for our starter.

Tami ordered Seafood Platter (RM38) -comes with pan-fried dory fish, grilled prawns and squids as well as a Balinese salad. Another yummy dish! Love the fact that all are almost grease free and lightly infused with herbs without losing its original taste. The grilled squids are a must-try!

Overall, what a satisfying meal!

After the feast at Ole-Ole’s, we went over to Matt’s place nearby, warmly greeted by his family and a sweet surprise prepared for us!

Thanks Matt for the support and encouragement to our team! We do appreciate it very much!

After mingling with his family and sharing stories, we left Matt’s place around 11pm with smiles on our faces and heavy full stomachs!
